Orientalism refers to a school of art which began in the 18th Century but flourished in the 19th Century consisting of European artists who traveled to the Orient, from Istanbul through the Middle East and North Africa, and began depicting the life, landscapes and architecture of the Ottoman and Arab world in their paintings. French and British artists in particular were dominant in this movement (Gerome, Delacroix, Ingres, Wilkie, Hunt, Lewis) but soon artists from other European countries demonstrated a fascination for the Orient in their works. These are quality, reproductions on canvas, varying sizes from approx. 19 x 23, to 21 x 26 in. in elegant frames.
